Did you know that making plans a reality is exceedingly more effective if you write them down? It’s what I’m doing for year 2016. The idea will flourish and the subconscience will remove all obstacles, everything will fall into place and once the year is through, this one or the next, you can make a photo album of it all and enjoy it at your old age.

Spring trips: Leivonmäki and Pyhä-Häkki

Spring time is at its best when hiking in the Middle-Finlandian trails close to home: Leivonmäki and Pyhä-Häkki are both unknown to me so far… so what better time to get to know them?

Summer vacation: A week at Hetta-Pallas

The rudimentary plan for next Summer is the Hetta-Pallas trail, a 55 km long voyage that with our traveling speed would take about 4 to 6 days. We’re talking about my first long hike, so I’m planning to take my sweet time. Tagging along is my husband Heikki whose photographs pave the visual side of the blog. If the vacation slot permits, we’ll also be celebrating our two-year anniversary.

Summer vacation: Posio

Through family ties I’ve heard a great deal of this hiker’s paradise but sadly I’ve never been. I mean to rectify this, come Summer of Fall.

Autumn hikes: Nuuksio and Helvetinjärvi

My brother will be our guide this Fall to the recommended and popular Southern attraction, Nuuksio National Park. I hear you can take the local bus there, can you imagine? Helvetinjärvi lost the vote to Salamajärvi on 2015, so now he gets a turn with his beautiful gorges and fjords.

Challenge: #polkuhaaste (trail challenge)

On this occasion, challenges are about traversing city-maintained natural hiking trails. Jyväskylä has about 10 of these and over half of them are more than familiar to me. How would you like to get to know them all? Most of them are very close by. They’re extremely well marked so it’s virtually impossible to get lost. I’ll let you know when the actual challenge begins but if you feel like it, go right ahead already!

Other plans

During Spring I’m thinking wild herb classes and dehydrating some fruits and veggies. I’m also learning how to dehydrate protein sources, like meats.

Some of the past hikes and trips of 2015 include:

  • Isojärvi National Park
  • Salamajärvi National Park
  • Koli National Park (with a little bit of bad luck involving foggy weather)
  • Yosemite National Park
  • I also partook on the trail challenge, or at least some of it, on Summer 2015, so expect photos and tales from those.

 

The long term plan/dream is to go to Northern Italy on 2017.
