Wind protected us from mosquitoes

During Shepherd’s Week in Koli we hiked atop Vesivaara, a hill located close to the Seppälä Estate. The view made the trip worth it and the ascend wasn’t too much for our two-year-old companion. In addition to the breath-taking landscape we got to enjoy the very apparent lack of mosquitoes.

Our canine friends were tethered and if you can’t see the leash in the photos, they’re either tied around a tree or hidden in the grass. All pets are required to be tethered because a) we were in a National Park and b) because that’s the law from Spring to Fall.

We spent Midsummer’s week of 2016 as shepherds at the Seppälä Estate in Koli National Park. Everything related to our adventures there can be found under the Shepherd’s Week tag, which is to say here.
